SEO audit tool
An SEO audit tool is software that fetches a page the way a search engine does and reports what would stop it ranking — indexability, on-page structure, content depth, performance, security and links — with a fix for each fault rather than only a score.
The value is in the ordering, not the list. Most audits return dozens of findings of wildly different importance, and a page that cannot be indexed has one problem worth solving while its twenty formatting notes wait. A useful tool separates the ceiling from the deductions.

The six categories a page is scored on
The weighting matters more than the checklist, because it decides what a score actually means. Weight deliberately sits away from the things every site builder satisfies by default.
Indexability and links are near-universal passes on real sites — most pages are crawlable and internally linked, so scoring them heavily produces a participation trophy where brochure sites outrank substantial ones. Content and performance are where genuine differences live, which is why they carry the most weight here.
| Category | Weight | What it decides |
|---|---|---|
| On-page | 26 | Titles, headings, metadata, image handling |
| Performance | 22 | Page weight, render blocking, image sizing |
| Content | 18 | Depth, text-to-markup ratio, heading coverage |
| Indexability | 16 | Crawlability, canonicals, robots directives |
| Links | 10 | Internal structure, broken and nofollow links |
| Security | 8 | HTTPS, mixed content, transport headers |
Score ceilings, and why they are not deductions
Some faults are not worth points, they are worth a ceiling. Three of them cap the score outright no matter how clean everything else is.
A page carrying noindex cannot rank at all, so no arrangement of good markup should let it read as excellent. A page served without HTTPS is the same case. And a page with under three hundred words of body content does not have enough material to compete for anything commercial, however well structured that content is.
This is the difference between a tool that scores configuration and one that scores whether the page can actually win. An additive score happily calls an empty, well-marked-up page excellent, which is the failure mode most free checkers still have.
What this tool adds that a classic audit does not
The classic half is table stakes and largely solved. The half that is not solved is whether an AI assistant can retrieve and quote the page, and that runs in the same scan here.
That means AI crawler access checked per user agent, a client-side-rendering detection that tells you whether a crawler sees your content or an empty shell, structured-data validity and type coverage, direct-answer openings, and an entity-authority lookup against public Wikipedia and Wikidata records to establish whether the brand behind the page is recognised at all.
There is no traffic, keyword-volume or backlink data anywhere in it. Those require paid crawls we do not run, and inventing them would make the rest of the numbers untrustworthy by association.
How to run an audit that is worth acting on
Auditing every URL produces a backlog nobody works through. Auditing the right handful produces a plan.
Start with your homepage, because it carries your entity identity and is the page most likely to be fetched. Add your highest-intent commercial pages, since those are where a fault costs money. Then add one representative page per template — a blog post, a product page, a docs page — because most faults are template-level and fixing the template fixes hundreds of URLs at once.
Fix in the order the report gives you, which is impact first and effort second, then re-run. A structural fix either registers immediately or it did not work, and finding that out in a minute is much cheaper than assuming it landed.
Frequently asked questions
- Is this SEO audit tool really free?
- Scoring any live URL is free with no account, and so is the single highest-impact fix. Signing in unlocks the full prioritised list, the category breakdown and the check table. The scores are never gated behind a payment.
- How is it different from other free SEO checkers?
- Two things. It applies score ceilings rather than only deductions, so a thin or unindexable page cannot score as excellent on clean markup alone. And it scores AI readiness and entity authority in the same scan, which classic tools do not measure at all.
- Can it audit my whole site?
- Yes, for signed-in users — a crawl follows your internal links and sitemap up to twenty-five pages and adds site-level checks that only exist between pages, such as duplicate titles, orphaned URLs and broken internal links. Single-page audits stay free and unlimited by comparison.
- Why is my score lower here than on other tools?
- Usually the ceilings, and usually content depth. Most free checkers score configuration additively, so a well-built page with very little on it scores highly. Here it cannot, because a page with nothing on it does not rank regardless of its markup.
