Long-Tail Keyword Generator
A long-tail keyword is a search phrase of three or more words with a clear intent behind it. Enter a topic and this free generator lists long-tail ideas grouped by intent, in your browser.
How to use this
Generating a keyword list here is a four-step job, and no account is needed.
- 1Type a topic your business is about — e.g. “home solar panels”.
- 2We list the longer phrases real people type into Google and AI assistants, grouped by what they’re trying to do.
- 3Pick the phrases that match what you sell, and use them as your page titles and headings.
- 4Download the list as a spreadsheet if you want to plan several pages at once.
What a long-tail keyword generator does
A long-tail keyword generator is a tool that expands one short topic into the longer, more specific phrases people actually type. Each phrase here is also labelled with the search intent behind it.
Short topics like “solar panels” are searched by people who want very different things: a definition, a price, an installer. The longer phrase says which one. That is why a page written for “how much do home solar panels cost” can answer its reader completely, and why it competes with fewer pages than the head term does.
The ideas come from language patterns, not from a search database. Question shapes (how, what, why, is it worth it), comparison shapes (best, versus, alternatives) and buying shapes (price, cost, free, near me) are applied to your seed, then de-duplicated, clustered by topic and matched to the type of page that suits each one.
How to use long-tail keywords once you have them
The best use of a long-tail list is a content plan: one page per intent, each built to answer its phrase in the first paragraph.
Google's own starter guide puts the principle plainly: think about the words a user might search for to find your content. It also says repeating those words over and over is keyword stuffing, which is against its spam policies. Write each phrase once, where it answers something.
- Group the phrases that want the same answer. Five wordings of one question belong on one page, not five.
- Write the answer to the main phrase in the first two sentences under its heading, then support it.
- Use the question phrases as H2s. Answer engines lift the paragraph directly under a question-shaped heading.
- Check each phrase in Google Search Console after publishing. Its Performance report shows which ones the page actually earned impressions for.

Frequently asked questions
Is this long-tail keyword generator free?+
Yes. It is free, needs no account and has no daily limit, because it runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to our servers.
Does it show search volume or keyword difficulty?+
No. Real monthly volume and difficulty come from paid clickstream databases such as Semrush and Ahrefs, and a free tool cannot build one. The competition and opportunity columns here are labelled heuristics from each phrase's shape and length. For real impressions on your own site, use Google Search Console.
What counts as a long-tail keyword?+
A search phrase of three or more words with a specific intent — “best home solar panels for cold climates” rather than “solar panels”. This tool flags ideas with three or more words as long-tail.
Why are so many of the ideas questions?+
Because question phrases are what AI answer engines break a search into. Google says AI Mode and AI Overviews may issue several related searches across subtopics to build one answer, so a page that answers the specific questions is the one those searches find.
Can I export the keyword list?+
Yes. Download the ideas as a CSV file, or download the content calendar built from them.
